Why use hair masks?

Hair masks are quick but very effective ways to give your hair many benefits in less than 20 minutes. Think of them as super-powered hair conditioners that make your hair softer, hydrated, help it grow, add shine, and even protect it from infections. While some salons offer expensive treatments for similar results, we prefer natural ingredients straight from Mother Nature for our hair masks. The recipes we are sharing only require a few all-natural ingredients, which you can find in your fridge or cupboard and are sourced directly from the Earth.

These hair masks are fantastic for nourishing, protecting, and moisturizing your hair, ensuring it looks its best.

The things you need Here’s a list of natural things we’ll use in the mixtures we’re going to tell you about. When you can, choose the organic option.

This makes sure that the things you’re putting on your hair don’t have chemicals that make things grow or pesticides:

  • Avocados
  • Strawberries
  • Lemon
  • Honey
  • Coconut Oil
  • Coconut Milk
  • Brown Sugar
  • Banana
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Cinnamon
  • Olive Oil

1. Coconut Oil + Honey Hair Mask (Repairing)

COCONUT OIL

Coconuts are like magic for your hair. Coconut Oil is not just for your hair; it’s also good for your skin and a healthy fat for cooking. It even helps with digestion and supports your body’s natural hormones. The benefits of Coconut Oil seem to go on forever! When you use Coconut Oil on your hair, it keeps it moist and soft, preventing breakage because it holds onto moisture really well.

Since Coconut Oil has lots of fatty acids, it goes deep into your hair, making it wonderfully soft, silky, and shiny. We suggest using Organic Coconut Oil if you can.

HONEY

Honey has so many benefits too! First off, it’s fantastic for keeping moisture in your hair because it’s a natural humectant. This means it pulls moisture into your hair and doesn’t let it escape. That’s super helpful if your hair tends to be dry and needs some extra moisture and hydration.

Honey is also an emollient, which makes your hair smoother and softer, bringing back that lovely sheen and shine.

THE INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil

1 tablespoon of honey

DIRECTIONS

Mix everything in a bowl.

Put the mixture in a pot and heat it up until it melts.

Apply it to your hair from top to bottom and cover with a shower cap.

Leave it on for 15-20 minutes.

Rinse it out.

2. Coconut Oil + Cinnamon Hair Mask (Hair Growth)

COCONUT OIL

We talked about Coconut Oil in the last mask recipe, and you’ll see it in many hair masks because it helps keep your hair hydrated and moisturized.

CINNAMON

Cinnamon has special properties that fight germs, helping your hair grow and preventing dandruff and hair loss. It also makes your hair follicles stronger. When you put cinnamon on your hair, it boosts blood flow to your scalp, encouraging hair growth.

If you want longer hair, this is the mask for you. Let’s start mixing!

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

Mix these two things in a bowl, making sure they’re well mixed.

Split your hair in the middle and apply the mixture along the part and on your scalp.

Use your fingers to massage it into your scalp. Bonus: Enjoy a head massage!

Tie up your hair and cover it with a shower cap or towel.

Leave the mask on for 30-45 minutes, then wash it out with your regular shampoo and conditioner.

This mask works best when used once a week.

3. Egg + Lemon Hair Mask (Oily Hair)

EGGS

Eggs have Vitamins A, D, and E, proteins, and fatty acids that make your hair shiny. Since hair is mostly protein, this extra boost makes it healthy. Eggs are not just good for omelettes; they’re also a fantastic natural conditioner!

LEMONS

Lemon is perfect if your scalp is oily. Lemon juice absorbs extra oil and grease in the scalp. It’s high in Vitamin C, making hair strong, and its acidity cleans your hair from products and dust. Lemon has Limonene, which adds bounce and shine to dull hair.

Lemon juice fights Dandruff too, with its anti-fungal properties. Who knew lemons had all these benefits!

INGREDIENTS

1 egg

½ lemon

DIRECTIONS

Crack an egg and use only the egg white.

Squeeze half a lemon into a bowl.

Mix the egg white and lemon juice until smooth.

Apply to damp hair from top to bottom.

Tie up your hair and cover with a shower cap.

Leave for 30-45 minutes and rinse with shampoo and conditioner.

ANOTHER VARIATION…ADD IN SOME COCONUT MILK

Surprise! Coconut milk is a natural remedy for hair repair. It’s made from the healthy, white flesh of coconuts. If you have hair loss, coconut milk has vitamins like Niacin and Folate, promoting hair growth.

If you have dry hair, it contains Vitamin E and healthy fats, nourishing dry hair and acting as a natural detangler.

INGREDIENTS

1 egg

1 cup of coconut milk

1 squeeze of lemon

2 tablespoons of olive oil

4. Brown Sugar + Olive Oil Hair Mask (Dry Hair)

BROWN SUGAR

Brown sugar is like a gentle scrub for your hair. It helps remove dead skin cells from your scalp and any leftover residue. Who would have thought this sweet baking ingredient could make your hair healthier?

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Extra virgin olive oil has always been used as a natural conditioner for treating dry hair. It makes your hair soft and shiny by keeping in moisture and preventing the scalp from getting dry. It’s excellent for preventing hair breakage, split ends, and fly-aways!

Do you often scratch your head? Do you deal with dandruff and dry hair? This mask is your best choice to help with those issues. If you want to learn more about why your hair is dry from the root (no pun intended), click here.

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

1 tablespoon of olive oil

DIRECTIONS

Mix the sugar and oil in a bowl.

Apply to your hair from top to bottom.

Let the mask stay on your hair for 15-20 minutes.

Rinse.

5. Banana, Yogurt + Honey Hair Mask (Frizzy Hair)

BANANAS

We really like bananas in hair mask recipes! Bananas are like secret superheroes for conditioning hair. They have natural oils, potassium, carbohydrates, and vitamins that lock in moisture and get rid of annoying frizz.

YOGURT

This recipe might sound like we’re making a parfait, but don’t worry, yogurt is fantastic for your frizzy hair. It has lots of lactic acid, which helps treat dull and damaged hair, so it’s a must-have ingredient.

Now, let’s learn how to make this “parfait,” I mean hair mask!

INGREDIENTS

1 sliced banana

2 tablespoons of plain yogurt

1 tablespoon of honey

DIRECTIONS

Mix all the ingredients together in a blender or mash the banana and mix until everything is well blended.

Put the mask on damp hair from top to bottom.

Tie your hair up and cover it with a shower cap.

Leave the mask on your hair for about 30-45 minutes.

Wash it out with your regular shampoo and conditioner.

Boom! Say goodbye to frizz!

6. Coconut Oil, Avocado + Honey Hair Mask (Damaged Hair)

Okay, just a heads up – this one might make you look like you’ve got guacamole on your head, but trust us, it’s worth it.

AVOCADOS

Ever wonder why health enthusiasts love avocados so much?

That’s because this guacamole ingredient is a natural, healthy fat that brings nearly 20 different vitamins and minerals, including potassium, folate (which fixes damaged cells), and Vitamins C and E (both good for hair growth).

In simpler terms, avocados add shine, moisturize, give your hair essential vitamins and proteins, and even protect it from heat and daily wear.

INGREDIENTS

1 avocado

2 eggs

1 tablespoon of honey

1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil

DIRECTIONS

Mash the avocado and put the mash in a mixing bowl.

Add eggs, honey, and oil to the avocado mixture and mix well.

Put it on your hair from the ends to the roots.

Leave it on for 15-20 minutes.

Wash it out.

7. Coconut Oil, Strawberry + Honey Hair Mask (Shiny Hair)

STRAWBERRIES

This hair mask is excellent for keeping your hair healthy, and we especially like it because strawberries make it smell delicious. Strawberries are full of Vitamin C, which helps your body make collagen, an important part of your hair’s structure.

This strawberry hair mask also gets rid of extra oil and grease, giving your hair a shiny look.

INGREDIENTS

6-8 fresh strawberries

1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil

1 tablespoon of honey

DIRECTIONS

Blend all the ingredients to make a puree.

Put it evenly on damp hair.

Leave it on for 5-10 minutes.

Rinse well with warm water.

BONUS INGREDIENT: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial and antifungal properties that help with flaky and itchy scalps. It cleans your hair without removing natural oils and helps keep moisture in your hair for better conditioning. So how does it work? Here’s a quick science lesson:

Apple cider vinegar has lots of vitamins like B vitamins, vitamin C, and potassium. Since it’s a bit acidic, when you mix it with water, it balances the pH level of your scalp and cures any problems. The acidic vinegar also makes the outside of your hair hard, making it shiny, smooth, and less likely to tangle. Try an ACV hair rinse to refresh your hair. It’s simple but effective.

There you have it! You don’t have to go far or spend a lot on hair masks. Just use key ingredients from your kitchen, understand how each helps your hair, and mix them as needed. Now, go ahead and plan that night of pampering for yourself – you deserve it.
